ANYWAY
My TV blew out today temporarily and although it's back now I know it's only a matter of time before it's out for good again.. I get a warning message every time i turn the tv on that the lamp is about to die. This happened a mere 6-9 months ago and I had to pay $260 to replace it so I'm not doing again. I was going to build up a few paychecks then get a TV with my discount but I guess I'll go ahead and do it sooner.

I am hoping some of you may know a little about TVs. My main questions (which I have kind of had answered by some fellow bestbuy co-workers, jordan, andy, etc etc) are, what are the diff between plasma and LED; what is the difference between 1080p and 720p; and what brand TVs are best? I went to best buy today and Brittany checked the employee prices for me so I'm about ready to make a decision. I want the best possible for the cheapest possible.. but it's more about quality than price. If I have to pay a few hundred more for a better tv I'm willing.

1) panasonic 50" 720p plasma HDTV reg price = $900 my price = $808.46
2) samsung 50" 720p plasma HDTV reg price = $900 my price = $808.51
3) panasonic 50" 1080p plasma HDTV reg price = $1,800 my price = $1,266.39
4) samsung 50" 1080p plasma HDTV reg price = $1,550 my price = $1,247.40
5) toshiba 55" 1080p LCD HDTV reg price = $2,000 my price = $1,575

I've had 1 person tell me there's little to no difference between 1080p and 720p except with blu-ray players and I should just get the 720 for cheaper; another said 1080 is the future and I should definitely get it. I also had 1 guy tell me panasonic is best and another said samsung (I didnt even list the best buy brand tv because he said it sucked.. lolol).

The bigger toshiba one is nice for only $300 more.. but is toshiba a good brand? If not, should I go with panasonic or samsung? Do any of you even fucking know anything about tvs or am I wasting my energy? :P
